I’ve been interested in renewable energy for 20 years+ and have done lots of experimenting over the years with small set ups for lighting and charging power tool batteries etc. In January of 2022 we got Prairie Sun Solar to install a rooftop 10.1 kw system on our house in NW Regina consisting of 23x 450watt panels. We went with a Solar Edge energy hub inverter to allow for future battery storage and a DC-DC EV charger. I started out in 2022 with driving a plug-in hybrid for 3 years and then moved up to a full electric vehicle.  Currently we use our solar energy to reduce household power costs and to charge 2 EVs and the PHEV.

I sit on the board with SEVA and help with organizing their public promotion events.

In August of 2025 I was given the opportunity to manage projects for the solar division of BCI, the pipe fabrication company that I have worked with for 23 yrs. The owner partnered with Mechatron and is now the western Canadian distributor for their pedestal mounted dual axis sun tracking systems.

In October of 2025 we completed the installation of a 167kw system (4  arrays)at BCI’s pipe fabrication shop, east of Regina. In January of 2026 we commissioned an 86kw system(2 arrays) at BCI’s other shop in Rocky View, Alberta. I’m looking forward to promoting and managing many future solar installs in western Canada as we transition to cleaner energy.
